Bodyguard shoots minister dead

Kampala: Mr Charles Engola, Uganda’s Junior Minister for Labour has been shot dead by his bodyguard Tuesday morning. The bodyguard is allegedly to have turned the gun on himself in a nearby Hair Salon.

Residents in the area, that saw the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces bodyguard shot in the air was quoted as saying “I am tired.. They have not paid in for long.”

Details of the incident that took place at the Minister’s home in Kyanja, a Kampala posh suburb are still scanty but the Speaker of Parliament Ms Among communicated to the house this morning.

Engola was last in the public yesterday during the International Labour held in Namutumba district.  

The home has been visited by a number of ministers, MPs, the UPDF and Police.
