Bukedea District is currently operating under two counties of Kachumbala and Bukedea with 16 sub-counties overall and through the scrutiny of the Local government leaders, there is a need for creation of new counties and elevating the district to municipality status.
“Based on the current population and its infrastructure level, Bukedea district now qualifies for the municipality.”The LcV chairperson Mr. Olemukan Moses emphasised
Mr. Olemukan further said, the idea of elevating old sub-counties to the county status is a good one and it will help in three key cores of Social, Economic Transformation. Here, a list of sub-counties that qualify to get the county status in the district put across and these include, Kolir, Malera, and Kidongole.
In his note, they are aggressive in achieving this because there is abundant opportunity for job creation that will reduce the pressure put on the government especially from different walks of life both in the district and nationwide.
