In a recent meeting with members of the Presidential CEO Forum at State House, Entebbe, President Yoweri Museveni reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting local manufacturers from unfair competition with their foreign counterparts.
The President assured attendees that measures would be implemented to promote local industries, starting with imposing taxes on imported final and intermediate products.
Addressing the issue of corruption, President Museveni urged the business community to collaborate with the government in the fight against corruption, emphasizing its detrimental impact on national progress. The President’s call comes as part of ongoing efforts to create a conducive business environment for economic growth.
The Presidential CEO Forum, inaugurated in 2021 by President Museveni, focuses on encouraging the business community to adopt import substitution and export promotion strategies.
The Vice Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Emmanuel Katongole, reported significant progress since the first engagement in Kyankwanzi in 2021.
