Jubilee Health Insurance has taken a significant stride in addressing the global epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) with the launch of its comprehensive wellness program, Maisha Fiti. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of its customers in Uganda.

Rising global health concerns

According to the World Health Organization, an alarming 41 million people succumb to non-communicable diseases each year worldwide. In response to the escalating prevalence of lifestyle-related illnesses, Jubilee Health Insurance has introduced Maisha Fiti, aiming to empower individuals to actively manage their preventive and curative health.

Uganda’s health crisis

Uganda is not immune to this global health crisis, with lifestyle-related illnesses accounting for 39% of deaths in the country. The probability of premature death from one of the four main NCDs is estimated at 22% for every Ugandan citizen. Lifestyle choices, such as inadequate physical activity, excessive alcohol consumption, and poor diet, are identified as major contributors to the increasing disease burden.
